ENCOUNTER
UFO's. What can I really say about them? Are they real? Why don't I leave the answer up to you? Let me list some of the strange events I've had in my life and you decide for yourself. It is hard to know where to start because of so many unexplained events.
NOSE SURGERY
I moved back to Toronto in the early 1980's and during the first couple of years I made sure to upgrade all of my family's medical care. Living in the country we were limited in care facilities unless we traveled large distances to the cities for specialized care. One day as I left my local shopping mall I saw a large van truck parked outside with advertising on the side for a hearing clinic and this truck was doing 'on the spot hearing tests' or something so I went up and asked them what they were doing there. I made an appointment for my two children and myself to go down and have our hearing checked just to be sure everything was fine. I was interested because both my grandparents and some aunts and uncles on my dad's side of the family were deaf mutes. My dad had some problems with his hearing growing up and now wore hearing aids and I wanted to be sure my children and I had no problems.
I went downtown by Maple Leaf Gardens to a hearing clinic and saw an ear, nose and throat specialist who put us all through a battery of tests. I booked another appointment to come back and get our test results.
I went back for my results a couple of weeks later and I was told everything was fine. The specialist told me that my one son had a deviated septum just like me [?]. I asked him what it was and what it was caused by and he explained. He said we could both have them corrected if we were having problems breathing but I declined as I have no problem - it is actually the clearer of the two nostrils. He told me the tests showed I had a low pain threshold for high frequency noises - which made perfect sense to me as I had often covered my ears around sounds other people said didn't bother them. Then he began to tell me how well my nose surgery had healed and that the scarring was barely visible anymore. He said judging from the scar tissue I must have had the surgery when I was little. ??!!??
He was pointing out what a fine job the surgeon had done and all the 'beautiful aspects' of the work when I interrupted him. I told him I have never had surgery of any kind on my nose. He continued as if not hearing me and said the doctor had performed some very fine work and that it looked like he had used a laser of something and that he was a very skilled surgeon. [I was too old to have a laser used on me back in the 1950's [I got to shock him again - he thought I was between 18 to 21, I was almost 34 but didn't look my age].
I told the doctor he was mistaken because I had never had any surgery on my nose. Of course I did he insisted as he pointed out the marks on the x-ray. I told him I couldn't really read x-rays and said again he was mistaken that I know for a fact I have never had any surgery on my nose either inside or out. Once again he pointed out the marks. I told him he must have the wrong x-rays if this were the case because I have never had any surgery. He checked the name and code numbers to be sure and said they were right. He told me I was just probably too young to remember having my nose operated on. I assured him I would remember and that I could actually remember having my tonsils out when I was around four or five.
I was five years old and I definitely remember all the events around my tonsil removal including going in for surgery in an old house on the east side of Broadview Avenue in Toronto just above Gerrard Street, north of the Don Jail overlooking the park. It was a grand old house partially renovated into a clinic. I remember going up a wide, long flight of stairs to sit outside a 'surgery room' that was directly next to the sitting area and only a curtain separated the waiting patients from the ones being operated on. I was grossed out and didn't want to be there. I could hear all the awful sounds coming from beside us and I remember everything that I experienced both during and after the surgery as well. I remember finally leaving while holding tightly do my dad's hand [I feared they'd try to keep me] and I so wanted out of this bad place that I faked being well and I truly wasn't.
I told the doctor that if I could remember all this I would definitely remember another surgery. He kind of laughed and just told me to talk to my mother because she would know. I told him there was no need to talk to my mother or anyone else as I had never had any surgery on my face what so ever. He left the room for a few moments and when he came back he said they were definitely my x-rays and I honestly forget now what he did to convince me [I think he might have pointed out a tooth or something] but I had to believe him. Once more I told him I never had any surgery never mind what he was showing me. He disagreed and began to get angry. I tried to pass it off but knew I would be lying to agree with him so I told him I would check with my parents. It bugged me so badly I called in the middle of the day, from a pay phone at the doctor's office, the long distance to my parents' home. When I spoke to my mom I apologized and said I already knew the answer to the question I was about to ask but I wanted to hear it anyway. I asked my mom if I ever had any surgery on my nose area. My mother said no and wanted to know why - so I told her. I was the first born so there is no way they would forget and besides, I would remember.
I went looking for the specialist before I left and told him what my mother had said. By this time I am in a giddy mood about the whole matter and laughing about it. The doctor couldn't understand and thought maybe my parents had forgotten [yeah right, and cows fly]. Anyhow, my sense of humour was back and I told him that I had never had any form of surgery 'on this planet.' On this planet and then I pointed skyward and said jokingly, 'but who knows about off this planet'. Once more I repeated my joke as he seemed to have gone into shock. I repeated I had never had surgery on this planet but who knows where else that I had been. It registered. Then he got all embarrassed and quickly changed the tone of the subject and laughed, nodded and agreed with me [though he really wasn't sure now]. I left.
So I had nose surgery done by a very fine surgeon. No where in any of my medical records is there any record of this [on this planet] and during my childhood I only ever had one doctor who I still had at 17 years of age when we moved out of the city. You'd think he'd know. My parents both said none of my brothers or sisters or myself have ever had any surgery except for tonsils and that is a fact. My relatives all agree. I never had nose surgery here but there is medical proof that I have had surgery on my nose 'somewhere'... You figure it out…
